WHEN: Saturday, January 29, from 8 am to 12 pm
WHERE: Lyngso Garden Materials, 345 Shoreway Road, San Carlos, CA
Flows To Bay has partnered with Rain Water Solutions to provide residents an opportunity to purchase low-cost, high-quality USA-made 50-gallon rain barrels. Coupled with the promotion of the countywide rain barrel rebate, rain barrels are now accessible and affordable for many residents in San Mateo County looking to explore the world of water conservation and water pollution prevention.
Once barrels are purchased through this program, they will be picked up at a rain barrel distribution event. Flows To Bay is looking for community volunteers (ages 18 and up) to help take barrels off their pallets and distribute rain barrels to San Mateo County residents. Residents will drive up with their vehicles and have the number of barrels purchased and the loading location written on a piece of paper that they will display through their windows. Residents will be asked to stay in the car through this process while volunteers load the materials.
Volunteers will need to:
- Interact with the public, minimally and as needed
- Lift up to 32 pounds to load barrels into vehicles
- Collaborate with other volunteers
- Stay on their feet for a up to 4 hours at a time, taking breaks as needed (wear comfy shoes)
- Be outdoors during late January (dress appropriately)
COVID Protocol: This event will take place outdoors. However, out of the utmost precaution, we are asking that volunteers wear a face mask during the event.
