The maps presented below were developed by cities/towns in San Mateo County and the Unincorporated County using the best available information. The maps are consistent with the requirements included in the Municipal Regional Stormwater National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit (Order No. R2-2015-0049) issued by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board to address discharges of trash from municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s). The Trash Generation maps depict the levels of trash observed circa 2009 on streets, sidewalks and other jurisdictional land areas draining to MS4s, trash capture systems implemented to date, where trash control inspections have been conducted to date on private properties (i.e., PLDAs), and the current levels of trash observed via On-land Visual Trash Assessments (OVTAs) conducted on streets and sidewalks. The maps are subject to revision.
