The maps presented below were developed by cities/towns in San Mateo County and the Unincorporated County using the best available information. The maps are consistent with the requirements included in the Municipal Regional Stormwater National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit (Order No. R2-2015-0049) issued by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board to address discharges of trash from municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s).
- The Baseline Trash Generation maps depict the levels of trash observed circa September 2018 on streets, sidewalks, and other land areas draining to storm drains.
- The Directly Connected Land Areas maps illustrate the land areas that are >10,000 ft2 and are directly connected to the city/town/county storm drainage system.
The maps are subject to revision. The Towns of Woodside, Portola Valley, and Hillsborough do not have directly connected land area maps because these jurisdictions either have all “low trash generating areas,” or have no areas >10,000 ft2 that drain to inlets not associated with the public right-of-way.
