Volunteer Outdoors in East Palo Alto: Beautify the Bay Trail

Volunteers should expect a day of various habitat restoration tasks (e.g. weeding, picking up trash, and/or spreading mulch) outside in exposed conditions.

Waivers/Registration: All volunteers attending the workday must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver on their behalf. Volunteers age 12 and under require an accompanying adult.

[PLEASE READ BELOW CAREFULLY]

Meeting Space: O’Connor Pump Station near Friendship Bridge along the Bay Trail (click here for Google Maps link) There are no restrooms. Water will be provided, bring your own reusable bottle to fill.

Parking: Baylands Athletic Center Parking Lot, 1900 Geng Rd, Palo Alto (click here for Google Maps link). Please note that this about 0.6 miles away (12 minute walk, 3 minute bike ride) from our meeting place along the Bay Trail.

Drop off/Pick up Only: If only getting dropped-off and picked up, navigate to the dead-end of O’Connor St in East Palo Alto (click here for Google Maps link). Parking is very limited here, please, do not park here to respect the neighbors.

Prepare for Working Outdoors:

  • Face mask for COVID-19 safety (optional)
  • Reusable water bottle (filled with water)
  • Snacks, if desired
  • Long pants, long sleeves recommended
  • Sturdy closed-toed shoes that can get dirty
  • Hat/sunscreen or rain gear/boots
  • Epi-Pen or allergy medicine, if applicable
  • Plan for potential exposure to sun, poison oak, ticks, prickly plants
  • Prepare for no available restrooms.

We will provide gloves, tools, and light refreshments.
