Simple Steps to Remove Your Lawn

Description: Designed with the home gardener in mind, this workshop will explore the pros and cons of having a lawn in the garden and then provide a step-by-step demonstration of how to remove a lawn. Attendees will be inspired by this workshop to remove their own lawns and replace them with beautiful, wildlife-enhancing and drought-tolerant plants.

Master Gardener Presenters

Melissa Mason: Melissa has been a UC Master Gardener since 2015 and specializes in California Native Plants. In 2019, Melissa initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project where Master Gardeners planted 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area. Currently, Melissa and Master Gardeners are researching and developing “Plant Notes” for each plant and making them available to the public online.

Naz Schroeder: Naz is the Foster City Parks Lead Maintenance Worker and has been a UC Master Gardener since 2016, specializing in garden design and maintenance. In 2020, Naz initiated and led the Foster City Habitat Garden Project where Master Gardeners planted over 30 species of beautiful wildlife-attracting plants in Foster City.

Registration is Required: This workshop is limited to 20 attendees.
