San Bruno Mountain Habitat Restoration Event

San Bruno Mountain is a beautiful natural “island” in a sea of urbanization, and it functions as key habitat for numerous endangered or threatened butterfly species including the San Bruno Elfin and the Mission Blue. Come join us Saturday, June 10th to help us improve crucial butterfly habitat by removing invasive species.
LOGISTICS AND ACCESSIBILITY :
- We will be walking about 1/2 mile down a flat, well-maintained trail to our worksite, where we willuse hand tools to remove invasive plants. Our work will involve bending and kneeling.
- Tools, gloves and foam kneeling pads will be provided.
- We ask that you wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty for your protection and comfort. Sunscreen, snacks, hats, and layers are also great to have on hand in case the weather gets warm or cold–San Bruno Mountain is famous for quick changes in temperature and windspeed! If weather conditions are deemed too extreme, this event may be canceled and we will reach out to participants by email.
- Please bring a personal water bottle for each member of your group
A reminder email with more detailed instructions on the day’s activities and where to meet will also be sent in advance of the event. We look forward to seeing you in the parks!

If signing up as a family or a group, please adjust the number of volunteer sign-ups according to the number of volunteers in your party when filling out your registration form. Groups of eight or more should contact clandon@smcgov.org prior to registering.
Volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
