All Preserves Great & Small: El Corte de Madera Creek

July 21, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Join Docent Naturalists Frances Reneau, Wendy Crowder, and Paula Maurano for the 16th in the “All Preserves” series celebrating Midpen’s 50th anniversary. El Corte de Madera Creek (the place to cut wood in Spanish) is loaded with interesting history, both human and natural. Evidence of this land’s clearcutting in the 1800’s is still evident. Points of interest include a tafoni sandstone formation and the old growth Methusaleh tree.

Where to Meet

Meet at the Caltrans vista point on the east side of Skyline Boulevard, about 4 miles north of La Honda Road (Highway 84) and 1.5 miles south of Kings Mountain Road.  Please note that Caltrans prohibits a left turn into the parking lot when approaching from the north along Skyline Blvd.

To ensure your experience on a docent naturalist outing is enjoyable please review these activity guidelines.

If your activity requires registration, please be sure to cancel your reservation (from your confirmation email) if you are no longer able to attend so others can participate.

After your participation on a guided activity please share your feedback — your input is meaningful to our volunteers and program staff – thank you!
