Afternoon Hike at Mindego Hill with POST!

On this 5-mile excursion, you’ll hike from the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve to the top of the POST-protected Mindego Hill and back. Enjoy the early evening views up and down the Santa Cruz Mountains from one of the most prominent peaks in the range!

This hike is strenuous towards the end with a steep climb up the hill, so be prepared for a workout! We will meet at the new Mindego Gateway parking lot before heading up the Mindego Hill Trail. We’ll enjoy some sights and take photos. Bring a flashlight just in case!

Protected by POST and opened to the public by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, Mindego Hill is an excellent example of how POST works with various partners to protect some of the most threatened lands in our area. You’ll hear more about how we protected this beautiful property and have the opportunity to chat with several POST representatives.

All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entirety of the hike, and we kindly request that the pups stay home for this community hike.

Reminder about our COVID-19 Guidelines: In compliance with the state of California Department of Public Health Guidance, we ask that all unvaccinated individuals wear a mask while participating in this event unless otherwise exempt. Masks are not required for vaccinated individuals during this event. In addition, we ask that you do not attend this event if you are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms including: fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea. You will be asked to confirm agreement to this policy during the registration process.

While masks are not mandatory for vaccinated people, they are recommended to be worn for as much of the hike as is possible. Guests are to be extra mindful of socially distancing on the trail. Maintain at least 6 feet of distance with other guests at all times, including during registration and while listening to the hike leader, unless you are part of the same household.
