Master in Local Sustainability Course – Summer 2020 (Online if needed)

An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, repeating until July 29, 2020
COVID-19 Note: Given the ongoing state of the public health crisis, we will move forward with offering this course on an online meeting platform, like Zoom, on these same dates.
Date & Time: Wednesday evenings, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm on the following dates: June 3, June 10, June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, and July 29
Location: Zoom, or similar
Course description: The Sustainability Academy’s Master in Local Sustainability Course is a no-cost, 9-week course that will provide you with in-depth knowledge of the following sustainability topics:
- National and local food systems
- Climate change
- Sea level rise
- Energy efficiency and conservation
- Water efficiency and conservation
- Solid waste management
- Transportation
After the completion of the course, we require that you volunteer 40 hours of your time using the skills that you learned in the class to promote sustainability in your communities. We will match you with an organization that meets your interests, or support you in pursuing an independent project. We will ensure that all volunteering options are safe to pursue given COVID-19.
Priority will be given to San Mateo County community members, specifically those who live, work and go to school in San Mateo County.
