Thinking from a watershed-scale, requires a true shift in perspective. Most of us move about in the world with a laser focus on our immediate circumstances and the very near term consequences of our actions. Rather than considering just the individual impacts you have on your immediate surroundings and vice versa, it’s worth breaking down the common boundaries that in our minds, usually extend to just the limits of our bodies – or at most, perhaps to the edges of our immediate environments, like our homes. What if you extended your perspective to your role in your neighborhood or even your watershed? After all, you are an integral part of that larger-scale system, and on some level, no less responsible for it than for the well-being of your own home or body.

Below are links to groups and organizations based in San Mateo County where you can tap into excellent watershed stewardship activities. These are all great opportunities to extend your impact, and to start thinking from a watershed point of view.
