SMCWPPP is committed to educating residents of San Mateo County and providing partnership opportunities to further the resources and reach of the pollution prevention message. We strive to educate the public about the causes of stormwater pollution and its serious effects on the quality of local creeks, lagoons, shorelines and neighborhoods. The following outreach materials, information, and advertising campaigns help us to make the connection between actions and the effect on the environment with the goal to encourage our community to adopt less pollution and more environmentally beneficial practices.

  • Our most recent public service announcement, informs viewers that storm drains lead directly to local waterways and everyday actions can affect water quality.

  • We offer a free assembly program to educate elementary age children at schools and other venues.

  • We coordinate the California Coastal Cleanup Day for San Mateo County, encouraging residents and businesses to get directly involved in cleanup efforts by picking up litter on our shorelines.

  • We also encourage citizens to get involved with local watershed protection and education by applying for and implementing community action grants.
